As a Centers of Excellence Bariatric program, we believe in providing our patients with a comprehensive weight loss program and a life long partner in dealing with obesity. TLC surgeons are pioneers and leaders in the field of bariatric and minimally invasive surgery.  We offer a complete range of bariatric procedures, including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, Realize Band, LAP-BAND, Sleeve Gastrectomy, and StomaphyX.  You will not find a practice more dedicated to your care than you will here at TLC.

What is it that sets TLC Surgery apart from the rest?

1. Surgical Excellence
Dr. Scarborough and Dr. Yu are experts in laparoscopic weight loss surgery having performed over 1500 procedures since 2002.  They have each had fellowship training in laparoscopic surgery.  In addition, they are proctors for the Realize Adjustable Gastric Band and teach surgeons around the country not only in that, but also in Single Incision Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery. 

2. Team Approach
Dr. Yu and Dr. Scarborough assist each other during major procedures so that our patients have two experienced surgeons performing their weight loss surgery.  Also, we work with a team of specialists that include Cardiologists, Pulmonologists, and Critical Care Specialists to make each patient’s surgery and postoperative course as safe as possible.

3. Nutrition Program
Our nutritionists, Donna Logan and Heather Reichert, bring a wealth of experience with weight loss surgery nutrition to our program.  For both of our registered dieticians, their focus is on the weight loss surgery patient.  In addition to offering bilingual classes, one of them has even undergone weight loss surgery, bringing first hand experience to the classroom!  We currently offer post-operative classes as well to make sure our patients have all the support they need to continue their life changing journey.

4. We currently use fluroscopy
We are currently adding flouroscopy in our office that will enable us to adjust our patent’s gastric band more precisely and to diagnose any problems with the band or bypass more quickly and easily.

5. Single Incision Surgery
We are Houston’s most experienced single incision weight loss surgeons.  That means fewer incisions and better cosmetic outcomes for our patients.  Adjustable gastric banding and sleeve gastrectomy are routinely performed via single incision surgery.
