Dr. Terry Scarborough has dedicated his career to helping patients live healthier, happier lives. His is widely recognized as a leader in laparoscopic surgery, having performed thousands of laparoscopic and bariatric procedures since 1999. Dr. Scarborough has been honored with awards from a number of organizations, including the Consumer’s Research Council of America, which named him one of America’s Top Surgeons. His approach to surgery is informed by his commitment to comprehensive care and his knowledge of advanced, minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Scarborough is passionate about helping patients overcome obesity.

Education and Experience
Dr. Scarborough hails from Clovis, New Mexico and graduated with honors from the University of New Mexico and went on to receive his medical degree, also with honors, from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He continued to Baylor University for a surgical residency, where he completed a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery. As a practicing surgeon in Albuquerque, Dr. Scarborough performed the first laparoscopic kidney transplant in New Mexico. He also served as a fellowship director of laparoscopic surgery at the University of Texas and was awarded for his exceptional work there. After completing specialty training in laparoscopic gastric bypass, Dr. Scarborough, along with Dr. Sherman Yu, founded Texas Laparoscopic Consultants in 2008.
