Meet Dr. Sherman Yu
Meet Sherman C. Yu, M.D, FACS.
Board-Certified Surgeon, American Board of Surgery
Dr. Yu is committed to restoring health and well-being to his patients. He offers an entire spectrum of weight options including non-surgical treatments and minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Yu is a Houston native and has been recognized as a Centers of Excellence Surgeon by the Surgical Review Corporation and has also been named one of America’s Top Surgeons by Consumer’s Research Council of America. Dr. Yu believes that every person deserves the chance to live a healthy and active life. He has made it his life’s mission to help people achieve their weight loss goals.
Education and Experience
Dr. Yu received an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with high honors. He earned his medical degree from Baylor University and received honors in his surgical rotations. He received surgical training and performed his residency at The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. While there he earned the title of Chief Resident in Surgery and also authored a number of research articles and presented at several national conferences. Upon his return to Houston, Dr. Yu completed a fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He then held a position as Assistant Professor of Surgery at University of Texas Health Science Center before joining Dr. Scarborough to found Texas Laparoscopic Consultants. Dr. Yu has dedicated his medical career to bariatric surgery and continues to perform research in the field of obesity surgery.
